Economic feasibility study Mittagbahn
Client: Mittagbahn Immenstadt
Year: 2020/21
The Waller family has been operating the cable car since 1951, which today has two sections leading up to the Mittagberg near Immenstadt. Originally built in 1949 as a single chairlift, it was replaced by two double chairlifts by 2004. In order to meet the increased demands of guests in terms of quality and comfort, the Waller family, which has been in the business for three generations, is planning to replace the existing installations with a 10-passenger gondola lift.
The Mittag is particularly popular with tobogganers in winter and is the starting point for hikes in the Nagelfluhkette in summer. All year round, many guests are attracted by the magnificent view of the Allgäu High Alps. In the future, they will also be able to experience this view from the patio of a new summit restaurant. The economic feasibility study that was prepared by Montenius Consult for the project therefore included not only the lift but also the evaluation of the planned restaurant.
"The work testifies to extreme professional expertise," company owner Georg Waller attested to the report written by Christoph Schrahe. For lockdown-related reasons, it was not possible to draw on surveys of visitors. Since the scope of possible supplementary offers has not yet been determined, a dynamic model was developed that can be used to analyze the effects of modifications to the specific project design on profitability and liquidity. This puts the Mittagbahn in an excellent position for the upcoming approval process.
